Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

KinPacto is developed and operated as an independent product. For the purposes of this policy, "KinPacto", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the KinPacto app and its developer.

2. Data we collect

Account information

• Email address (used to create and manage your account)
• Display name, phone number (optional), and role (Mother / Father / Guardian / Other)
• Profile photo (optional, stored in your Supabase storage bucket)
• Currency preference and app language

Co-parenting data

When you use KinPacto, you create and share data with your connected co-parent. This includes:

• Calendar events, custody schedules, and swap requests
• Shared expenses, receipts, and payment records
• Chores and assigned tasks
• Messages sent within the app

Children and pets

• Children's names, dates of birth, medical details, school information, emergency contacts, and sizing information — entered by you
• Pet names, types, veterinary information — entered by you
• Profile photos for children and pets (optional)
• Document attachments (optional)

Journal entries

Text entries, photos, and privacy level (Shared / Private / Attorney). See Section 4 for details on how each level is handled.

Location data

GPS location, captured only during check-ins you initiate. See Section 5. Never collected passively or in the background.

Usage and technical data

• App crash reports and error logs (via Supabase)
• Push notification tokens (used solely to deliver notifications you configure)
• Subscription status (managed via RevenueCat)

3. How we use your data

We use your data to:

• Provide and operate the KinPacto app and its features
• Authenticate your account and keep it secure
• Sync shared data between you and your co-parent in real time
• Generate PDF reports and court exports you request
• Send push notifications based on your preferences
• Process subscription payments and manage access tiers
• Respond to support requests sent to hello@kinpacto.com

We do not use your data to serve advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data to train AI models.

The tone analysis feature (powered by Google Gemini) analyses the text of outgoing messages before you send them. The text is sent to Google's API for processing and is not stored by Google for model training under our usage agreement.

4. Journal privacy levels

KinPacto journal entries have three privacy levels you set when creating each entry:

• Shared: Visible to you and your co-parent within the app.
• Private: Visible to you only. Your co-parent cannot access these entries under any circumstances.
• Attorney: Visible to you only within the app, and flagged for inclusion in court exports and InstaShare documents sent to your legal professional. Your co-parent cannot access these entries.

Private and Attorney entries are stored securely and are subject to the same encryption and access controls as all other data. KinPacto staff do not access journal content.

5. GPS check-ins

GPS check-ins are entirely voluntary. You must:

• Explicitly opt in to the GPS check-in feature (a consent prompt appears on first use)
• Actively initiate each individual check-in

KinPacto does not collect your location passively or in the background. Location data is shared with your connected co-parent and stored in your account. You can opt out of the feature at any time in app settings, and existing check-in records can be deleted through the Privacy and Data screen.

6. InstaShare and professional sharing

InstaShare allows you to generate a PDF summary of selected app sections and share it with a named professional (for example, an attorney or social worker) via email. The PDF is generated on your device and sent through your device's email client — KinPacto does not transmit the document on your behalf.

You control which sections are included in each InstaShare document and which professional receives it. A record of each share (date, recipient, sections included) is stored in your account for your reference.

7. Third-party services

KinPacto uses the following third-party processors. Each is bound by their own privacy policy and our data processing agreements where applicable.

Supabase (database and authentication)

All app data is stored in a Supabase PostgreSQL database hosted on AWS infrastructure. Supabase provides authentication, real-time data sync, and file storage. Data is stored in the us-east-1 region unless otherwise configured. Privacy policy: supabase.com/privacy

Google Gemini (AI tone analysis)

Message text is sent to Google's Gemini API for tone analysis before you send a message. This processing is transient — the text is not stored by KinPacto or retained by Google for model training under our usage agreement. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

RevenueCat (subscription management)

Subscription purchases, entitlements, and billing records are managed by RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives your user ID and subscription status. It does not receive your journal entries, messages, or other personal content. Privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy

Google Play (app distribution)

KinPacto is distributed via the Google Play Store. Google Play may collect device identifiers and download information in accordance with their own policies. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

8. Data storage and retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:

• Your profile, children, pets, journal entries, messages, expenses, and calendar data are permanently deleted from our database
• File attachments and photos stored in Supabase Storage are permanently deleted
• Deletion is completed within 30 days of your request
• Anonymised, aggregated statistical data (not linked to your identity) may be retained

You can request a full export of your data or initiate account deletion from the Privacy and Data screen in the app, or by emailing hello [at] kinpacto.com.

9. Your rights

Depending on your location, you have rights under applicable privacy law, including:

• Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Portability: Export your data in a machine-readable format
• Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Withdrawal of consent: Withdraw consent for any processing based on consent (e.g. GPS check-ins)

These rights apply under GDPR (EU/UK), POPIA (South Africa), and similar frameworks. To exercise any right, email hello [at] kinpacto.com with "Privacy Request" in the subject line. We aim to respond within 30 days.

10. Children's privacy

KinPacto is designed for use by parents and guardians. The app is not intended for use by children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

Information about children (such as names, dates of birth, and medical details) is entered by a parent or guardian and stored as part of that adult's account. This data is used solely to support co-parenting coordination and is subject to the same protections as all other account data.

If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at hello [at] kinpacto.com and we will delete the account promptly.

11. Legal bases for processing (GDPR)

For users in the EU, UK, or other GDPR jurisdictions, we process personal data on the following legal bases:

• Contract: Processing necessary to provide the KinPacto service you have signed up for
• Legitimate interest: Security, fraud prevention, and improving app reliability
• Consent: GPS location collection (can be withdrawn at any time)
• Legal obligation: Where required by applicable law
